Support World Elder Abuse Awareness Day at the HIGHLANDER on JUNE 15th

From 11am to 8pm the Highlander will donate 20% of all proceeds to the Highland County Department of Social Services Adult Services Special Needs account!

Adult services are provided to an adult with an impairment, as defined in 51.5-144 of the Code of Virginia, to assist the adult to remain in his or her own home and to be as independent as possible for as long as possible. The provision of adequate services decreases the risk of institutional placement, decreases overall costs for long-term care in the Commonwealth and ensures that appropriate services are provided to maximize self-sufficiency.

This fund helps low‑income elderly and disabled adults in Highland access in‑home companion services—housekeeping, meal prep, transportation, and daily‑living support. It also assists with essential needs such as glasses, medical devices, hearing aids, loud doorbells, snow removal, minor repairs, grab bars, wood chopping, yard work, uncovered medications, and necessary appliances.
