The Felix Hall House, located in McDowell, Virginia, is a historic property rooted in a region deeply shaped by the Civil War and Appalachian heritage. Today, the home stands untouched, offering a rare and honest glimpse into the past…its structure, details, and presence preserved as time has left them.

The Durham Collective has assumed stewardship of the property with a long-term vision of thoughtful restoration and community integration. At this stage, the focus is not renovation, but respectful preservation…allowing visitors to experience the house as it currently stands and to understand its historical significance before any changes are made.  

In preparation for Highland County’s Maple Festival, the Felix Hall House is being readied for public viewing so guests can engage directly with the history of the home and the stories embedded within its walls. This open house is intended as an introduction—inviting the community and visitors alike to connect with the house in its original state and join us long our restoration journey.

Driven by genuine passion for history, The Durham Collective is allowing the Felix Hall House to be experienced as it is — authentic and unfiltered. Future plans aim to protect that authenticity while thoughtfully reintroducing the home as a place of cultural exchange and storytelling.
